Henry Hawkins is buried in Alexandria National Cemetery, Pineville, Louisiana.[1] His tombstone is simple, with only the plot number, his abbreviated name, and "U.S.C.T.", which identified Henry as a member of the United States Colored Troops, regiments in the U.S. (Union) Army composed primarily of African American soldiers (as well as Native Americans, Pacific Islanders, and Asian Americans). It is likely that Henry died as a result of his involvement in the Civil War, given the date of his death.
