Biography
Abel (Ensign) Hawley[1] (20 October 1716 Farmington, Hartford, Connecticut - 11 November 1797 Meriden, New Haven County, Connecticut[2]) was the son of Joseph (Capt) Hawley (6 Jan 1675 Stratford, Connecticut – 20 Nov 1752 Farmington, Connecticut) and Elizabeth Wilcoxson[3] (1 Nov 1673 Stratford, Connecticut – 10 Sep 1762 Farmington, Connecticut).
On 18 August 1742 in Farmington, Connecticut he married (1) Mary Gridley (1721 - 4 Sept 1753 at age 32)
Children (all born in Farmington) Include[4]:
- Elisha Hawley b. 26 March 1744
- Ruth Hawley b. 12 March 1747
- Desire Hawley b. 23 April 1748
- Abel Hawley Jr. b. 5 October 1750 may be the one who married Elizabeth Peck on 16 December 1772
On 13 November 1754 Abel married (2) Abigail Royce (1721 - 1803)
