Biography
John Hawthorne was born on 3 Oct 1875 in Kircubbin, County Down, Ireland to Samuel Hawthorne, a clergyman, and Alice (Peterson) Hawthorne - his birth was registered in the district of Grey Abbey in the union of Newtownards, County Down.[1]
John was a beneficiary of his father's estate in 1924: "HAWTHORNE the reverend Samuel of Sea House Newcastle county Down died 3 June 1924 at 14 Archibald-place Edinburgh Probate Belfast to John Hawthorne analytical chemist and Mary Hawthorne spinster. Effects £166 3s. Sealed London 29 November."[2]
