Biography
James Charles HAWTHORNE was born in 1877 in Holborn, London, England[1]. His parents were James HAWTHORNE and Louisa BOLTON.
The barque, Ellora set sail from London, England on 6 July 1881 (via Start Point, Devon on 11 July) with the HAWTHORNE family among the passengers and arrived in Hobson's Bay, Colony of Victoria on 27 September 1881[2][3]. The HAWTHORNE family consisted of parents, James (age 29, sailor) and Louisa (35) and their sons, James (4) and William (2 1/2).
Alice Rebecca WESTON and James Charles HAWTHORNE were married in 1909 in Victoria, Australia[4].
Their children included:
- Elsie Elizabeth HAWTHORNE 1910-1984
- Alice Evelyn HAWTHORNE 1914-1993
He passed away in 1950 in Essendon, Victoria, Australia[5] and was interred at the Fawkner Memorial Park[6].
