Andrew (Hay) Hay Eighth Earl of Erroll is a member of Clan Hay.
Andrew was born in 1537 or 1545[citation needed]. Andrew Hay, 8th Earl of Erroll was the son of George Hay, 7th Earl of Erroll and Margaret Robertson.[1][2]
He married, firstly, Lady Jean Hay, daughter of William Hay, 6th Earl of Erroll and Lady Helen Stuart, circa 16 June 1552.[2] By his marriage with Jean the male heirs and the female heirs were united. They had isue:
He married, secondly, Lady Agnes Sinclair, daughter of George Sinclair, 4th Earl of Caithness and Lady Elizabeth Graham, circa 20 September 1581.[2] They had issue:
George Hay+[3] of Keillour, married Isabel Hay (widow of Patrick Hay of Megginch), dau. of Patrick Cheyne of Esselmont, and had issue.[4]
William Hay[2] of Fetterletter, married (1) Lilias Gordon, dau. of Sir George Gordon of Gight, and (2) as her third husband Marie Urquhart.[4]
He succeeded to the title of 8th Lord Hay and to the title of 8th Earl of Erroll on 30 January 1573/74.[2]
In 1576 at Slains Castle he was imprisoned by his brother, Laurence Hay.[2]
He had charters to the barony of Erroll 10 Feb. 1548/9, to the barony of Slains and Innerpeffer 19 May 1565, and to the barony of Logie upon his father's resignation 13 Jan. 1573/4. [5]
