Biography

Eleanor Hayden was born at Pelham Manor, New York, on 20 May 1907.[1] She was the daughter of John Harold Hayden and Elsie (Vilas) Hayden, with whom she was living at Pelham in 1910 at the age of 2 years, 11 months.[2] In 1920 she was living with her brother William B. Hayden 2nd in the home of a family friend at New Rochelle, New York.[3]

A biography of her father on the Early Pennsylvania German Families web site refers to her as Eleanor Hayden, M. D. In 1940,[4] In 1940, Eleanor Hayden, doctor, 32, was working in at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, New York.[5]

There is no evidence that Eleanor Hayden ever married. She served as a first lieutenant in the United States Army during World War II, entering the service on 10 Aug 1943 and serving until 20 Mar 1945.[6] She is buried at the Long Island National Cemetery in East Farmingdale, New York, with the dates 20 May 1907 and 27 Apr 1993 inscribed on her gravestone.[7]
