Service Description: 1) Captain Elijah Dewey's Company, Colonel Moses Robinson's Regiment, Green Mountain Boys. Participated in the Battle of Bennington in 1777.

Thomas Haynes was born on July 23, 1735 in Haverhill, Essex County, Massachusetts, the son of Jonathan Haynes and Elizabeth Kingsbury.[1]

Thomas married Miriam Marsh on November 3, 1762 in Haverhill.[2] They had at least nine children.

  1. Samuel Haynes was born March 1, 1763 in Bennington, Bennington County, Vermont.[3]
  2. Jonathan Haynes was born January 4, 1765 in Bennington.[4]
  3. Elizabeth (Haynes) Hazen was born April 16, 1767 in Bennington.[5]
  4. William Haynes was born September 30, 1769 in Bennington.[6]
  5. Mahetabel Haynes was born on March 23, 1772 in Bennington;[7] died January 31, 1776.[8]
  6. Elijah Haynes was born May 31, 1774 in Bennington.[9]
  7. Lee Haynes was born January 7, 1777 in Bennington;[10] died February 15, 1777.[11]
  8. Huldah Haynes was born January 13, 1779 in Bennington.[12]
  9. Moses Haynes was born June 26, 1780 in Bennington.[13]

Dr Thomas Haynes died on November 26, 1789 in North Hero, Grand Isle County, Vermont. He is buried in the Hyde Cemetery in North Hero.[14]
