NOTE: This profile is intended to describe Ruth, the spouse of Jonathan Breed, originally of Lynn, who resided at Marblehead, Massachusetts. The identity of Ruth is somewhat ambiguous. The Breed genealogy gives her name as Ruth Haynes (Hooperchurch) [1]. Her marriage record states "Hayne" as her maiden name [2]. Careful study of the handwritten Marblehead records, accounting for date sequence in which the records were entered, gives inference that the date of their marriage was Jun. 11, 1725. The manner in which the 'Jan' was written, though, gave rise to much later (after the invention of the typewriter) transcriptions that give the month as January.
There were 3 children of this family:
Jonathan Breed died about 1730 at Marblehead. Subsequently, Ruth married 22 December 1731 at Marblehead, William Mors, or Moss [3].
A typewritten set of birth records from Marblehead contains an entry "Ruth Hooper son of the same parents [Wm. & Abigail Hooper] was born 22 of 8br 1703" [4]. Relevance of this item to this person is uncertain, but perhaps it is garbled enough to be set aside.
