Alice P Haynes was born in July 1879 in Alabama to Barry & Fanny (Barksdale) Haynes. She married Henry John Silas on June 4, 1899 and they had two children. She then married Joseph Henry Nail on October 4, 1909, in Talladega, Alabama. She died on July 9, 1964, in Anniston, Alabama, at the age of 85.
