Biography

Dorothea Hayne was bapt. 30 August, 1600 at Wedmore, Somerset, England. Her father was Thome (Thomae) Hayne. ^[1]
Considering that not many people could read and write in that Century, it is no surprise that Dorothea's name is spelt in several different (and sometimes amazing) ways. For instance, on both Doritheam Haine, and Dorithea Haine on her marriage record(s), and often Dorotheae on children's records. On daughter's record Avis Lane, her name is spelt Dorohda.
