Biography
Samuel J. Haynie was born October 5, 1832, in Tennessee, a son of James Haynie and Elizabeth Brady. Samuel is found on the United States Census of 1850, as a 17 year old, living at home with his parents, in Lincoln, Lincoln county, Tennessee. [1] Also living in the household is older brother, Robert B. Haynie, age 19 and younger brothers, James H. Haynie, age 12.
On December 21, 1856, in Lincoln county, Tennessee, Samuel married Anna Moore. [2] Samuel "Hannie" and Anna are found on the 1860 census, living in the 7th Civil District of Lincoln county, with children, James, age 3 and John, age 1. [3]
