Father of Rachel Haines; Abraham (Abram) Haines; Richard Haines, Jr or III; Elizabeth Haines; Rebecca Haines; Carlisle Haines; Mary Matlack; ; Enoch Haines; Rachel Haines; Bethanah Haines; Sarah Haines;
Brother of John Haines; Thomas Haines; William Haines; Mary Haines; and Joseph Haines."
"Richard Haines was the second child of Richard and Margaret Haines of Aynhoe, England. Richard (b.1665-d.1746) was baptized on August 6, 1665 at St. Michael's Church, Aynhoe, England. Richard married Mary Carlile, the most controversial person in the Haines ancestry (see profile). There is no record of Richard and Mary's marriage. Some say it was 1699, and Virkus says it was 1691. There is a record of Richard and Mary Haines witnessing the marriage of Francis Austin and Mary Borton in 1696. So, I would say they must have been married before then."
From Richard Haines and his Descendants by John W. Haines:
"Richard Haines located 100 acres of land in 1688; he purchased 100 acres of land from Elias and John Burling in 1693; 100 acres of land from Thomas Haines in 1695 and 100 acres of land from Francis Collins in 1700. He was one of the purchasers of the 'Friendship Tract,' 2240 acres of farm and wood land in the Southern Part of New Jersey, in 1711. His will was dated Dec. 17, 1744, and was probated Apr. 12, 1746. An inventory of his personal property was taken on 2 mo. (Apr.) 11, 1746. He named his wife Mary and his daughter, Elizabeth Newbury, as executors, but the will was probated by Elizabeth Newbury, surviving executrix, which places the death of Mary Haines between Dec. 17, 1744, and Apr. 12, 1746."
"A record of the dates of birth of the children of Richard and Mary Haines has not been found. The order of birth is not certain either, but it is believed that the order in which the children are named in the will is correct. This assumption is born out in part by the dates of marriage of the various children."
