Eliza (Hayward) Pyke migrated from England to Australia.

Eliza Hayward (Single, daughter of George Haywood, Ostler) married Joseph Pyke (Single, Shoemaker, of London St, son of Thomas Pyke, Baker) on 7 Apr 1851, at Saint Giles, Reading, Berkshire, England. Witnesses were Thomas Joyce and Sarah Haynour. [1] Eliza and Joseph had 4 children:

  1. Rebecca (Pyke) Wheeler (1852-1930)
  2. Selina Pyke (1854-1855)
  3. Sydney Pyke (1855-1942)
  4. Charles Tyler Pyke (1859-1916)

In 1856 Eliza and her family emigrated to Australia on the ship "Shanghai", arriving in Western Australia on 7 Nov 1856.

Eliza died in York, WA in 1893, aged 62. [2] Her death notice was published in the local paper, Eastern Districts Chronicle (York, WA : 1877 - 1927) Sat 11 Feb 1893 Page 4 Family Notices, [3]

DEATH.
At her residence, York, on the 9th instant, after a long and painful illness ; ELIZA, the beloved wife of Joseph Pyke, aged 62 years. Deeply lamented by her sorrowing husband and family.
