Biography

William Thomas was born about 1820 in Montrose, Prince, Prince Edward Island, Canada. ^[1] William registered a new vessel, "Kingston", 100 Tons with B Hayward in 1846.^[2] William Haywood and Isobel Johnstone married on 28 Mar 1850. ^[3] William was a miller and also a farmer in Lot 5, Prince, Prince Edward Island, Canada from at least 1864 to 1891.^{[4] [5] [6] [7] [8] [9]} He is said to have owned 570 acres on the Mill & Tignish Rivers in Howlan. William was replaced as postmaster for Township No. 2 in 1867. ^[10] He died, maybe 12 Jul 1893 in Prince Edward Island, but his gravestone says at 72. His remains were buried in Montrose Presbyterian/United Church Cemetery, Lot 3-4. ^{[11] [12]}
