I grew up in Maryland, lived for about 14 years in California, and have settled in New Jersey, where I am a biology professor. Both of my grandmothers worked on family history; I got interested in May 2018 when I helped my mother solve a long-standing family mystery.
Current WikiTree goals:
• Trace all ancestors at least as far back as their arrival in North America (DONE for my paternal grandfather's Irish ancestors; much of the rest is traced back to the US Revolutionary War era, and some further back to early colonial America.)
• Trace my paternal grandfather's Irish ancestors as far back as possible
• Do as much DNA confirmation as possible using DNA matches on FTDNA, GEDMatch, and AncestryDNA.
√ Find identity of my mother's father through DNA triangulation of distant cousins and traditional genealogy research (DONE; see my mother's profile page for details)
√ Improve sourcing of the profiles I added when I first started on WikiTree (DONE; at least I think I got them all!)
√ Expand trees of ancestors to include their siblings (DONE, going back about 5 generations; more could be done further back)
Current brick walls (mid-1800s) and mysteries:
Maternal
Annie Killingsworth: Looking for parents and family; see her page and Killingsworth free space page for search details. UPDATE: Now trying to verify (or disprove) that her parents are Manlove Killingsworth and Ann Cloward.
√Anna Robertson: Supposedly the daughter of "Admiral Robertson" of the British Navy; information is needed. (DONE! Found her father, John Robertson (a mariner but probably not an Admiral) and his parents and grandparents. Next up, finding her mother.)
Paternal
George Franklin (Gray) Hazard appears to have been adopted by his father Frank Hazard. Who is his biological father? Autosomal DNA matches suggest that it is John Flanagan or a close relative, but circumstances are unknown. Research is ongoing.
Elizabeth Savage: Based on DNA matches, she could be descended from Jeremiah Savage, but more information is needed. (HALFWAY THERE! Found her father James Savage; still working on her mother.)
√ Hugh Gray and Ann Carr from Canada (really Ireland): pre-immigration information and parents needed (DONE! Found Irish county of origin (Co. Fermanagh) and parents' names)
√Jeremiah Maloney and Catherine Noonan from Ireland: Have parents' names but no other pre-immigration information (DONE! Found records from County Limerick)
√ Daniel Lavender: There are two possible David Lavenders who could be his father; more information is needed. (DONE! Connected Daniel to his parents David Lavender and Nancy Goins.)
√ Peter Lundquist from Sweden: Have parents' names but no other pre-immigration information (DONE! Found ancestors and relatives going back several generations and am working on getting them added to WikiTree.)
