Jeremiah was born in 1769. Jeremiah Hazen ... He passed away about 1813.
He bought a farm in Allegheny County, Pa., but sold it in 1809 and moved to Mercer County, where he bought 200 acres near Sharon. He is said to have been drafted for six months' service in the War of 1812, joining the army under General Crooks in Pittsburgh. He helped build the fort at Upper Sandusky. The company to which he belonged had orders to march the following morning, so he washed his clothes and worked hard carrying wood and water to the fort, but at gun-fire next morning he sprang up and fell back dead.
