Biography

From Genealogical and Personal History of Western Pennsylvania:

Judge Wilson married, December 25, 1888, Sarah Ida Hazen, daughter of Nathan and Judith Hazen of North Sewickley township, Beaver county, granddaughter of Samuel and Eliza (McDannel) Hazen and great-granddaughter of Nathaniel Hazen who came from New Jersey and settled on a farm in Beaver county.

He always lived on the farm near North Sewickley, originally owned by his father, which in turn descended to his son Smith McDaniel Hazen.
From Beaver County records: Whereas by the last will and testament of Nathaniel Hazen, late of North Sewickley township, Beaver Co., dated 13 Oct 1830, and recorded in Will Book B, page 130, the said Testator gave unto his son Samuel Hazen all the land he then possessed on the east side of the Conequenessing Creek in the consequence of which he requested the said Samuel Hazen to pay the sum of $10 per acre therefor, and whereas the said Samuel Hazen hath paid the said sum of money at the rate of $10 per acre in full according to said will, that is to say part thereof to the Testator in his lifetime and the residue thereof, viz. $188 to the subscriber, Administrator with the will annexed of the said Nathaniel Hazen, the latter, in consideration of the premises as well as in consideration of the sum of $1, . . . quitclaims unto the said Samuel Hazen . . . the real estate aforesaid. (Signed) Nathan Hazen, Adm. [Beaver Co. Deeds, P:451.]
The will of Samuel Hazen of Franklin township, Beaver Co., Pa., dated 4 Sept. 1855, proved 10 Sept. 1855, provided that his wife Betsey Ann in connection with his son Smith Hazen and his daughter Ruth was to have the use of the homestead on which he lived and at his wife's death the homestead was to be disposed of at a public sale and the proceeds to be equally divided among his children. To his nephews Ephriam and Sylvester Morton he left $150 each, and to his son Smith Hazen one two-horse team. Josh. Hyde and his son Nathaniel Hazen were appointed executors.
