James HEARD, son of Samuel HEARD and Louisa PARSONS, was born on 19 September 1846 in Geelong, Port Phillip District, Colony of New South Wales [1], died on 7 July 1914 in Colac, Victoria, Australia [2][3] at age 67.
James married Margaret O'FLAHERTY, daughter of Patrick O'FLAHERTY and Ann KELLY, in 1884 in Colony of Victoria [4].
Margaret was born in 1864 in Mortlake, Colony of Victoria and died in 1950 in Willaura, Victoria, Australia at age 86.
In 1880 James (age about 34) was employed as a Farmer at Noradjuha, Vic..
In 1892 James (age about 46) was employed as a Share farmer with his brothers Thomas & William.
In 1899 James (age about 53) was employed as a Farmer at Nurrabiel, Vic.
James was buried after 7 August 1914 in Willaura, Australia.

There is no doubt that James was baptised at Geelong, the indexing clearly showing Wesleyan Methodist for both registrations, and the higher fiche number also giving 'parish' as Geelong. But when he married in 1884, the indexing shows his place of birth was entered as Melbourne. Does this raise a question about when Samuel & Louisa moved from the Melbourne area to Geelong?
