DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Charles by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Charles:
I found that on findagrave and took over managing it, as it was an orphan. It doesn't make sense to me, that memorial, but I am continuing to research the Heards. Using the 'Descendants of Charles Heard" I am building a tree in ancestry (wish I had made it separate but it's too late now) to see how this all plays out. I can find that there was a book published in 1967 by a Harold Heard that is out of print. It may be, but there is no documentation that I can find to go along with the http://mendheim-usa.com/Exhibits/Descendents%20of%20Charles%20Heard%20-%206%20Generations.pdf
I was able to find Joyce Poole's book's records online and built a family tree just for the Heards in ancestry.com. It's a public tree, and makes so much more sense now. Getting it straightened out here might prove a little more difficult.
If anyone knows anything, please give me a shout!
