Charles was born in 1818, possibly in Armagh. He died of tropical fever aboard the SS Mula ; his will was proved on 27 Mar. 1867. [1]
He was educated at Trinity College, Dublin (BA 1839).
He served in the 45th Foot Regiment from 1842 and transferred to the 1st Foot in 1854.
He married secondly in Dublin on 17 July 1857 Alicia, née Goslin, widow of judge Arthur Crawford. She died in India in 1861.
