Richard was born about 1822 in Ireland, probably Belfast.
In 1850 or 1851, Richard married widowed Mary Ann (Maffre) Buckley. They do not appear to have had any children. They moved to Philadelphia where Mary Ann passed away in December 1851.
Richard returned to Montreal. In 1857, he is in the Montreal section of The Canadian Directory:
In 1867, Richard passed away at age 45 in Montreal. He is buried in Mount Royal Cemetery in Section B 838-D.
