His gravestone spells his name Salvenes. He has generally known as Sylvanus. Sylvanus was born in 1739. He passed away in 1787. [1] He was one of the first settlers of Newbury coming from Sandwich MA. He fought in the American Revolution. He married Azubah Sawyer, daughter of John Sawyer and Prudence. "Their children were Joseph, Simon, Nathan, James, Isaac, [Mary] Polly, Prudence, Azubah, Anna and Abigail." [2]
