Life
James Heaton was born in 1632 at Great Limber, Lincolnshire, England. He was baptized there on August 19, 1632. His parents were James Heaton and Elizabeth Tenney. His father died eight months before his birth. Sometime between 1633 and 1642, his mother came to New Haven with James. She is called a widow in the records of New Haven. On November 20, 1662, in New Haven, James married Sarah Street, the daughter of Nicholas and Alice Street. James and Sarah had nine children, all born in New Haven. James died on October 16, 1712, and is buried in the Grove Street Cemetery in New Haven. The record of the death of Sarah has not been found.
Previously genealogies have listed Nathaniel Heaton as James' father with Elizabeth Wight, however, this one says Nathaniel was his uncle.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with James by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with James:
This person immigrated to New England between 1621-1640 as a Minor Child (under age 21 at time of immigration) of a Puritan Great Migration immigrant who is profiled in Robert Charles Anderson's Great Migration Directory (or is otherwise accepted by the Puritan Great Migration (PGM) Project).

Heaton-97 and Heaton-8 appear to represent the same person because: I believe these two are meant to be the same person. The New Haven records listed as a source for Heaton-97 have James son of James born 1669. Heaton-8 had two sons James both died young, so this is not a profile for the son. The senior James did marry a Sarah (profiles also need to be merged)
Suggestion report shows: ' Hint 409: Marriage to duplicate person' for this profile, Heaton-8 and Heaton-97. Not much info on Heaton-97, so not a clear duplicate. Heaton-8 is managed by Puritan Great Migration Project.
Wilmot-71 and Heaton-8 appear to represent the same person because: Last name was Heaton, Wilmot was his step dad. dates are correct on the Heaton profile
