Laure [sic Luce] Bourg veuve Hebert is on the Wall of Names at the Acadian Memorial in St. Martinville, Louisiana Plaque 7 Left La Bergere Arrivee Le 17 Aout 1785. Listed with her are her and Jean Baptiste Hebert's children Jean, Felicite, Marie and Francoise.[1]
Jean departed France for Louisiana aboard the Bergère, a 300-ton merchant vessel chartered by the Spanish government to transport Acadian exiles to Louisiana, May 12, 1785. Arrived in Louisiana, August 15, 1785. [2]
The 1788 census of the Lafourche District indicates that Jean was a nineteen-year-old member of his widowed mother's household. The household also included the following persons: Marie Hébert, his sister, 21 years old; Félicité Hébert, his sister, 17 years old; and Françoise Hébert, his sister, 13 years old. Jean was born in France while his parents were living in exile from Acadia.[3][4][5]
Jean Hebert and Natalie Marie Aucoin, were married 22 Oct 1787 in Donaldsonville, Ascension Parish, Louisiana.[6]
