Census 1756-1757 List of Refugee Acadian Households at Camp Espérance on the Miramichi, 1756-1757 [8]

During the Grand Dérangement, the family experienced many displacements. Some time between 1756 and 1761, they fled to Camp d'Espérance, Miramichi, which was established at the end of the summer of 1756 to protect from famine and from the roundups of the British soldiers the approximately 1250 Acadians who went there. They suffered greatly because of sickness and lack of food at the camp. [9] In 1761 they were still refugees in Miramichi. [10] Benoni and his family (a total of 7 people) were prisoners at Fort Edward in 1763. [11] They were also prisoners in Halifax some time between 1761 and 1764. Total of 6 people in the family.[12]

He died after 1763 in Memramcook, Acadie. [2]

The Source No. 8 reference on the list of Acadian refugees at Miramichi can not be read. It is blurry and the typing is too small. This site has a much clearer list to view.

Thanks, Audrey! Would you like to go ahead and make the edit? I'm certainly comfortable with any edits you want to do on this or any other profiles (except PPP which always need more communication). Feel free to add as you see fit - your additions have been so helpful. Cindy

Hebert-6227 and Hebert-696 appear to represent the same person because: Same year and location of birth. Same son Joseph Pepin married to Madeleine Trahan.

Herbert dit Manuel-1 and Hebert-696 appear to represent the same person because: Same spouse and daughter Marie Madeleine married to Olivier Robichaud. Date of birth 19 Aug 1720 was mentioned in an email sent to Karen Theriot Reader, but no document is provided to support this claim. Merging into Hebert which is the standard name. Manuel is a dit name.
