Biography

Francois Hebert ... [1]

Descendants of François HÉBERT (c1795-1825; Étienne, Emmanuel, Jacques, François)

François, son of Jean-Baptiste dit Petit-Jean Hébert and Marie-Madeleine Dupuis, born near St.-Gabriel in c1795, moved to the Teche valley, where he married Anne Domicile or Domitille, daughter of fellow Acadian Simon Granger of Côte Gelée, at the St. Martinville church, St. Martin Parish, in May 1815. They settled near her family at Côte Gelée in what became Lafayette Parish. Their daughters married into the Fabre and Louvière families and perhaps into the Racca family as well. François committed suicide at Côte Gelée in May 1825; he was only 30 years old; his succession record was filed at the Vermilionville courthouse, Lafayette Parish, in June 1828.

HEBERT, Francois - of this parish; native of Iberville parish (major son of Jean & dec. Marie DUPUY) m. 29 May 1815 Anne Domitille GRANGER - native of this parish (minor daughter of Simon - inhabitant at la Cote Gelee & Francoise LANDRY) Wits: Alexandre LANDRY, Raphael LANDRY, Florentin LANDRY, Jean LANDRY. Fr. Gabriel ISABEY (SM Ch.: v.5, #363) [2]

HEBERT, Francois - inhabitant of this parish; spouse of Domitille GRANGER ; buried 31 May 1825 by the inhabitants of "son cartier" [his neighborhood] where he lived, called la Cote Gelee. He was found dead at 10:00 [persumably A.M.]. Several persons including William HATTEORNS, have declared that they went to the field where he committed suicide. He died at age 30 years. Wits: Benjamin MIRE, RIVIERE. Fr. Laurent REYRETTI (Laf. Ch.: v.2, p.4, #11) [3]

Hello Daniel,

I notice you have no sources other than yourself noted in the sources section. Since Wikitree asks that people provide sources for their entries, and I highly doubt you were born back then ;) , may I suggest you cite the succession record you name in the bio in the sources section? And if you could add some dates to the profile, that would help others know he is not the same person as a namesake in their tree. Thanks.
