Biography

Sidney Hedger was born in Sussex, England.

Sydney was born in Wisborough Green Sussex on 3 January 1885.^[1] He is the son of William Hedger and Harriot Chuter. Sydney was christened on 12th April 1885 in Wisborough Green.^[2]

Sydney was living with his parents and siblings in Wisborough Green and he was attending school in 1891.^[3]

In 1901, Sydney was living with his parents in Wonersh, Surrey and he was working as a farm labourer.^[4]

Sydney married Frances Overington in 1913 in Hambledon, Surrey.^[5] They would become the parents of 2 sons who were born in 1914 and 1916. Their elder son James passed away at, or soon after, his birth.

During World War I in 1916, he was serving in the Royal Engineers, Surrey.^[6]

At the time of the 1939 England Register, Sydney was residing with wife Frances at Station House, Guildford.^[7] He was working as a relayer for the Southern Railway.

Sydney passed away in 1951 in Surrey South Western, Surrey at age 66.^[8]
