John Peter Hedrick was born on October 8, 1812, in Rowan, North Carolina to George Hedrick (1772-1844) and Mary Elizabeth Snider (1774-1860). He had five brothers and ten sisters. He died on June 26, 1898, having lived a long life of 85 years, and was buried in Lexington, North Carolina.
