A proposed merge is merely that -- a proposal for the Profile Managers to consider and, if so desired, process.
I hear you that "born in the same yr does not necessarily denot the same person." However, consider that presently both profiles are listed as being born on the same date, in the same place, dying on the same date, in the same place, and occupying the same grave. This is significantly more commonality than being born in the same year.
This newer profile, Moses Unknown-620413, has had the same memorial as its only source from the moment it was created. Supposing John Hadrick-6 did not create the profile to represent the man mentioned in its sole source, who do you propose he intended it to represent?
As Profile Managers, you jointly have 30 days available to you to decide if these two profiles represent the same individual. Should you both decide they are the same man, then a merge is the proper course of action. Should you need more than 30 days to reach a conclusion, the option is available to set them as an unmerged matches and pause the timer. You also have the option of making no decision at all. Finally, you both individually have the option to reject the match. However, that rejection should probably be followed by collaboration to correct the dates and/or places of the incorrect profile and remove the memorial citation from the profile which is not represented.
Research notes disambiguating the two profiles can also be helpful to others in the future to see see and understand the conclusion you came to together and avoid others from drawing the same conclusion that I did.
Hedrick-529 and Hedrick-424 appear to represent the same person because: This appears to be the same man. Dates do not match, but one spouse matches. One has vague references from a ʻhanded downʻ tree. The other is well sourced
