Thanks for your message but I am no expert on the DNA question.

Can I suggest you ask in G2G forum and add tags to ensure the experts in DNA see your question.

I am in the UK and have only got ancestors from here but there will be others that can suggest where to look for more possible records.

It looks like our MRCA is Richard Cave, cave-10.

This person lived concurrent with Henry VIII and seems to from a notable family and is worthy of study.

It is also a verification of my Hodges ancestor and my Echols ancestor. I should say "one more verification" as i now have many.

I got a message saying you left a comment, now it doesnt seem to be there.

I match over 120 McCarty descendants on ancestry.com.

You may also like to try a gedmatch against wikitree mccarty-933 and mccarty-1164.

I am having difficulty seeing McCarty-06, can you give me a first name?

Thanks.

Hi Richard, Thank you!

If we have 3 people with the same DNA segment and an identified MRCA, then that is a genuine triangulation! That should verify the pathway for us! Well, DNA painting can allow for a match of overlapping segments.

Otherwise we have an ICW (in common with). A triangulation for as far back as Neville is quite something, me'thinks!

Hi Richard,

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, working within the projects which coordinate them is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.

Use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find one which best fits your research focus, whether time period, location, or special event. Read the goals and tasks of the project and join if it is a good fit.

Let me know if you have trouble finding projects which fit your focus. Click my name, then ask in the comment section of my page.
