Levon Helm was an American musician, writer, and the singer/drummer of The Band, legendary for their work with Bob Dylan in the 1960s, as well as their own music. Born in Arkansas in 1940, near the important Delta Blues center of Helena, he was the only member of "The Band" not born in Canada.
