Biography
Larry Edward Helms was born on April 19, 1937, in Twelve Mile, Cass County, Indiana. He was the son of Ross and Ruth (Winegardner) Helms. He married Patricia Ann Connors and they had four children together. After they divorced, he married Ruth Ellen Coffin on December 2, 1971, in Logansport, Indiana. They had one daughter during their marriage. He died on June 28, 1998, in Kokomo, Indiana, at the age of 61, and was buried in Logansport.

Services for Larry Edward Helms, 81, of 2424 Stadium Drive, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in All Saints Catholic Church. Mr. Helms died at 1:35 p.m. Sunday, June 28, 1998, in Saint Joseph Hospital and Health Center, Kokomo.
Born April 19, 1937, in Twelve Mile, he was the son of Ross D. and Ruth Winegardner Helms. On Dec. 2, 1971, in Logansport, he was married to Ruth Ellen Coffin Derouin, who survives.
Mr. Helms was retired from Helms Distribution, where he was the owner and salesman. He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church.
Also surviving are five daughters, Kathleen Smith, Jennifer Sailor and Michelle Miller, all of Peru, Elizabeth Knapp, Logansport, and Jessica Pullen, Rossville; one stepston, Jeffery Deroulin, Taftville, Conn.; two stepdaughters, Pattijo Woodward, Stockton, Calif., and Desiree Derouin, Scottsdale, Ariz.; two brothers, Hollis "Fletch" Helms, Logansport, and Thomas Helms, Galveston; five sisters, Lois Bowers and Ann Morrett, both or Rochester, Mary Gallahan, Peru, Lena Mae Dillman Skinner, Logansport, and Elsie Strasser, Twelve Mile; and 15 grandchildren.
One son, one brother, two sisters and one grandson preceded in death.
Father Donald L. Gross will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in McCloskey-Hamilton-Gundrum Funeral Home, where the rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
