Family Activity Feed
Once a week we send a summary of the activity in your Watchlist.
We also include Thank-Yous you received that week as well as birthdays in your Watchlist coming up the following week.
This goes out to everyone watching any profiles, but only if there have been changes by others besides yourself.
Wiki Genealogy Feed
Once a day we send a summary of activity in all the profiles in surnames you are following.
We also include a G2G Feed with questions and answers that have been tagged with the surnames or project tags you're following.
This update only goes out to those who choose to follow surnames/tags.
You can opt-out of these updates on your Settings page.
New Member E-Mail
A new registrant receives an e-mail confirmation message.
When someone is invited to join WikiTree, as opposed to registering themselves, they receive an e-mail with the invitation. If they accept the invitation the member who invited them receives a confirmation.
Comments on Managed Profiles
When someone posts a public comment on a profile, the manager receives an e-mail with the comment.
You can reduce the number of these you receive by managing fewer profiles. You can also opt-out of these updates on your Settings page. However, you should not opt out if you're a Wiki Genealogist who has signed the Honor Code.
G2G Answers and Comments
When asking, answering, or commenting on a question in G2G there is a checkbox that asks if you want to receive a notice by e-mail if the question is answered or commented-on by others or if your answer is selected as the best.
Checking the box is optional. However, once checked it is not easy to change your selection. But the volume of e-mail related to an individual question is rarely very high.
The manager of a profile will receive a merge request by e-mail if someone proposes to merge a duplicate.
You can reduce the number of merge proposals you receive by managing fewer profiles.
Anyone can send a private message to a WikiTree member. This is a way for members to receive e-mail about their ancestor profiles without revealing their e-mail address.
Private messages are simply forwarded by WikiTree as e-mail messages. The sender composes the message on a web form, but you receive it as normal e-mail.
You can reduce the number of private messages you're likely to receive by managing fewer profiles.
Trusted List Requests
You can reduce the number of these you receive by managing fewer profiles.
If you're the one who sent the Trusted List request and it's approved, you'll receive a confirmation message.
