Help:Stickers for Veterans
Categories: Stickers | WikiTree Help | Profile Editing Help
Profile "Stickers" are little feature boxes that are inserted in a biography using a special bit code that looks like this: {{World War II}}. They're used to honor a person or highlight something important about them. There are a variety of stickers related to military service. Was one of your ancestors a veteran? Here's how to add a sticker to their profile.

How to Use Them
To use one of these stickers, simply copy an example line from the usage instructions page, such as {{French and Indian War}}), and paste it below the ==Biography== headline on a profile so that it looks like this:
- == Biography ==
- {{French and Indian War}}
- Joe Schmoe was born ...
Many of these stickers have or may require advanced "parameters" that make them more powerful. Some enable you to indicate a branch of service, a military unit, enlistment and discharge date, etc. For example:
- {{Korean War|branch=United States Navy|units= USS Missouri (BB-63)|unit=USS Missouri (BB-63)}}
Using parameters can be complex, but it's worth the effort. Not only do they improve the appearance of the sticker, they also help with categorization. Since many stickers put profiles with the sticker in a category, detailed parameters help the profile appear in the most-appropriate category. For example, instead of just appearing in a huge category with Korean War veterans, including "USS Missouri (BB-63)" means the person will appear alongside others who served with them on the same ship.
