William Hemingway and Henrietta Child married 15 Jan 1824 Birstall, York, England

On York County, SC Census 1830, 1840, 1850 Christened February 19, 1797 Minister Church of All Saints, Dewsbury, Yorkshire. Cardmaker of Roberttown 1824, 1827. With his wife and older children, William left Britain on the Ship Majestic and landed at the Port of Charleston SC in the Fall 1829 [according to Brent H. Holcomb's book 'Passenger Arrivals at the Port of Charleston 1820-1829', page 85]. He first removed to Chester, SC where he was found on the York Co. SC census 1830 thru 1850. They then removed in 1859 to Madison County MS and is found on the 1860 Madison Co., MS census, page 74, #536/534, he is shown as a planter with $1500 R.E. and $700 P.E. with Dr. Hemingway as Head of Household. Dr. Hemingway was thought to be physician and personal friend to the McWillie family. Aged 71 years 1 month at death.
