Biography

Joe Hemingway was born on December 2nd 1863 at Tankersley to Hamor and Sarah Hemingway formerly Hamilton. Hamor is a farm labourer. Sarah registered the birth on January 8th 1864.

In 1871 Hamor 49 and Sarah Hemingway 36 are at Tankersley Lane, Tankersley, Yorks with their children Elizabeth 20, Frances E 10, Joe 7, Hamor 5 and Charles 2. Hamor snr is a farmer of 11 acres. All were born in Tankersley, Yorks.

In 1881 Hamor 60 and Sarah Hemingway 47 are at Lower Tankersley, Chapeltown, Yorks with their children Joe 17, Hamor 14, Charles 12, Florence 10 and Alice 5.
