The date and place of birth and parentage of Jonet Henderson, wife of Archibald McKirro, is uncertain. Based on the date of birth of her first known child, she was probably born sometime in 1692-1703. Based on the fact that her children were baptized in Campsie Parish, Stirlingshire, Scotland, it is reasonable to assume that she was born somewhere in the Campsie Parish area.
The two most probable candidates her parentage are (i) Thomas Henderson and Jonet Govan and (ii) William Henderson and Christan Donaldson. Thomas Henderson and Jonet Goven had a daughter named Jonet Henderson who was baptized in Campsie Parish, Stirlingshire, Scotland on September 27, 1696,[1] while William Henderson and Christan Donaldson had a daughter named Jonet Henderson who was baptized in Campsie Parish on December 22, 1695.[2] One fact favoring William Henderson as her father is that this profile's Jonet Henderson had a son named William but no record has been found that she had a son named Thomas. One fact favoring Thomas Henderson as the father of this profile's Jonet Henderson is that there is a record of the marriage in Kilsyth Parish, Stirlingshire, Scotland of a Jonet Henderson, daughter of a William Henderson.[3]
Jonet married Archibald McKirro. Based on the date of birth of their first known child, they were probably married about 1722. Since their children were baptized in Campsie parish, Stirlingshire, Scotland, it is likely that they were married there.
Jonet and Archibald had the following children (and perhaps others):
(possibly) Archibald, b. about 1721, m. (possibly) 1st about 1745 Jean Walker/Wilson, m. (possibly) 2d about 1755 Janet Downie/Daunie[4]
