DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with James by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with James:

The James Henderson that married Christian Dalziel couldn't have been the father of Elizabeth (Henderson) Duff.

His daughter Elizabeth married William Grieve. My father has 4th cousin matches to three of her descendants.

I am a descendant of Robert Henderson, son of James Henderson and Janet Lumsden. We still have two James Hendersons, one with daughter Elizabeth marrying William Ferguson and the other with daughter Elizabeth marrying Robert Reece Duff.

The death certificate of Elizabeth Ferguson who died 13 Dec 1858, states that her parents are James Henderson and Janet Lumsden. I also have DNA matches to two of her Ferguson descendants.

I also have DNA matches to descendants of Elizabeth Ferguson who died in Brechin in 1858 and her husband William Ferguson., they being my gt-gt-gt grandparents. Her brother James born Feb 1787 married Christian Dalziel in 1811 at Canongate, Edinburgh and is the James Henderson who died in 1867 and was buried at Gladsmuir Cemetery. Above should be given birth of 17 Feb 1787, shown as son to James Henderson-18902 and Janet Lumsden-483 and spouse should be shown as Christian Dalziel who is named on the gravestone in Gladsmuir. See Family search for his biography and photos.

These are not ready to merge there is an over-lap but some errors . Above died 1867 but was a coalminer born about 1850-1860 so very dubious even his son James born in 1787 would be fortunate to see 1867. The death certificate of James Henderson deceased 1867 should be inspected before claiming this. Furthermore where is the evidence for birth in 1760 and his parents? This has been imported by gedcom but does not give satisfactory sources as far as I can see. If for family bible or other non- Establish Church of Scotland source then that should be given.

Henderson-18902 and Henderson-1688 are not ready to be merged because: Dates and children don't match, but wive do.

Henderson-11665 and Henderson-1688 appear to represent the same person because: Same parents, same wife, same birth date and place
