Jane Henderson was born about 1788 in Halkirk, Caithness.

David Bruce and Jane Henderson were named as the parents of John Bruce who was born about 1830 and baptised at Watten, Caithness, on 16 December 1830.^[1]

In 1841 Jane is recorded on the Scotland Census as living in Munsary, in the civil parish of Watten, Caithness, with her husband and children Alexander, Catherine, Margaret, Janet and John.^[2]

In 1851 Jane was a widow and was recorded on the Scotland Census as head of her household in Munsary, in the parish of Watten. Living with Jane were her children David and Janet, and her sister Margaret. Jane's trade was "farmer 10 acres".^[3]
