Biography

She was the wife of an Admiral, a daughter of Army Surgeon Thomas Henderson, U.S.A. and the niece of Marine General Archibald Henderson. Her mother was the daughter of Commodore Thomas Truxton.

Emily Truxton (Henderson) Craven was born in 1822 in New York, USA, daughter of Dr. Thomas Henderson (~1789 - 1854) and Anna Maria (Truxtun) Henderson (1792 - 1857).

Her brother was Francis William Henderson (1825 - 1887).

Emily married Thomas Tingey Craven (1808 - 1887) Their children were:

1. Henry Smith Craven (1845 - 1889)
2. Maria Forrest (Craven) Hackett (~1850 - 1933).

Emily was the second wife of Thomas Craven. They married on 21 Apr 1840 at West Point.^[1]

In the 1870 census Emily (age 47), Keeping House, was in Vallejo, Solano, California.^[2]

Emily died on 1 Nov 1884 in Staunton, Staunton City, Virginia aged ~62. She was ultimately buried at Arlington National Cemetery , Arlington, Arlington County, Virginia, USA. ^[3]
