Biography

Donald was born July 2, 1783 in Scotland. He married Margaret MacKenzie in 1805 in Scotland and had 8 children (see below). The family immigrated to Pictou Co. in 1821. Donald was a Miller: a millwright, planning and building mills. Documentation shows that Donald was considered a wealthy man and a capitalist. He died at age 93 in Cape John, Pictou Co., Nova Scotia.

• Letter written by Donald H. Henderson, his father Kenneth claims that his father Donald was a wealthy man in the eyes of his fellow shipmates who emigrated with him to Nova Scotia. He cannot remember whether he was worth 70 or 300 pounds, however he was considered to be a capitalist.
