Harold was born in Brentford, London in 1875. He was the son of Alexander Henderson, 1st Baron Faringdon and Jane Ellen Davis.
He was educated at Eton College.
He married Lady Violet Charlotte Dalzell, daughter of Robert Harris Dalzell, 11th Earl of Carnwath and Emily Sulivan Hippisley, on 19 February 1901. They had children:
He was Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Abingdon between 1910 and 1916. He gained the rank of Captain and Adjutant in the 1st Life Guards. He fought in the First World War. He was Military-Secretary to the Duke of Devonshire, Governor-General of Canada between 1916 and 1920. He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Berkshire. He was awarded the Order of the Rising Sun of Japan 2nd class. He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Berkshire Yeomanry. He was appointed Commander, Royal Victorian Order (C.V.O.) in 1919.
He passed away on 1 November 1922 at age 47.
