Notes
Note N1245Here is Emma Griffin's obituary, from the Rockville Republican, Wednesday, March 18, 1903: "Mrs. Emma Griffin was born in May 1862 and died February 2, 1903. She leaves a husband and 12 children to mourn her loss. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church at Howard and a charter member of Erwin Corps. Mrs. Griffin was only sick a few days with pneumonia. She longed to stay with her family which needed a mother's care so much but when told she must die said, "all is well", and calling the oldest daughter to her asked her to be a mother to the nine children at home. Bidding the family all good-bye, she fell asleep in Jesus. Burial services at the Ephlin Cemetery. Appropriate resolutions were passed Saturday by the Corps and the Charter was draped."
