DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Belitje by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Belitje:
Here is what I have so far. The Belitje Van Schaick (aka your Beeltje Van Schayck-1).who was the daughter of Hendrick Cornelisze Van Schaick was born in 1672 and she married Claes Jansze Bogart in 1695 and had children, among them John or Jan Claesze Bogart. He married Hannah Peeck (Peek, Peck).
The Belitje Van Schaick (Van Schaick-9) who was the daughter of the above named Hendrick's BROTHER, Arie Cornelisze Van Schaick, Was born in 1663 and she married Pieter de Groot in 1681, supposedly. I say supposedly because they do not start having children until 1692. I think the 1681 is an error that is being repeated as it would make a heck of a lot more sense if she were married in 1681. As the information now stands, she didn't start having children til she was 29, an old maid indeed. Does anyone have access to the source document for their marriage? Is 1681 a transcription error or typo? Posting also to the group.
