Yates records a marriage "of TN" between Rebecca Hendry, born 1748 in Virginia, and Jeremiah Dungan, born 1730 in Pennsylvania.[1]

The following was copied from Gedcom imports:

Rebecca was born in 1754. She is the daughter of Unnamed Father Hendry. She passed away about 1835. [2]

Rebecca Henry ... [3]

Name

Rebecca Hendricks Hendry

Birth

16 May 1754 Frederick, Frederick, Virginia, USA.[1]

Marriage

of TN.[1]

Research Notes

Most people consider it VERY unlikely that this person was the actual wife of Jeremiah Dungan (Dungan-66) and the mother of his children. His wife was more likely a Hendricks or Hendrix, though which one is completely unknown. Apparently no reliable primary sources connect them.

There is good proof that Deborah Borden was unmarried when her father Benjamin made his will in 1742. Thus it is not possible that she was grandmother of Margaret Dungan, b 1755, who married James Pierce. The will of George Hendry in 1782 provided for 100 acres in Frederick Co. VA "whereupon Jeremiah Dunkin now lives". Jeremiah Dungan had been living in Washington Co. TN for at least 4 years at that time (per his oath of allegiance there in 1778.). This information from Pauline Pierce in 1999.

Hendry-754 and Hendry-9 appear to represent the same person because: These share the same vital info and parents

What is evidence that a Rebecca Henry, with this ancestry, was wife of this Jeremiah Dungan? We know for sure his wife was a Rebecca and it is likely that the first two letters of her last name were "He"

but nothing else. I found, long ago on the Web connections to Borden but these are very clearly very bogus.

Hendry-87 and Hendry-9 appear to represent the same person because: birth date on Hendry-9 is confused with marriage date, Hendry-87 is correct if you read the biography on Hendry-9
