Biography

Regina was born in 1833. Her parents were the tailor Henrik Svensson and Johanna Carlsdotter in the backstuga of Rosenkulla in Groparyd, Algutsboda. The family later moved to the backstuga in Rosenhult in Moshultamåla.

In 1850, Regina moved to Karlskrona in Blekinge, but returned home the next year. In 1853 she moved to Madesjö, but moved home in 1855. In 1856 Regina moved to Kosta Glasbruk (glassworks) in Ekeberga where she worked as a maid for the glass worker Fredrik Fischer. There she gave birth to Johan Wilhelm in 1857. He died in 1858.

She married the blacksmith hand Carl Carlsson and they moved to Bostorp Jackagård in Lenhovda, where their son Gustaf William was born in 1859. In 1860, the family moved to Gödeshult Norrgård in Älghult. There the son Carl Otto was born in 1860.

In 1861 the family moved to Möcklarhult where they were housed in the Nyadal farm and there their daughter Johanna Christina was born in 1863. That same year, the family moved to the Rosdala in Alstermo. There they have three children: Lotta Ulrika born 1865, Nils Amandus born 1867 and Hulda Carolina born 1870.

The family is now impoverished. In 1872 the son Jonas Konrad was born. On January 7, 1874 Regina was widowed when her husband died from pneumonia and the family farm became a "backstuga". In 1877, her son Jonas Konrad died and Regina is now a "fattighjon" (receiving charity from the village).

In 1883 Anders Petersson Skoglund and his wife Sofia Gustafsdotter aslo moved in to their house and in 1890 Sofia Seristina Jakobsdotter and her child. Regina moved in to the poorhouse in Svartshult Norrgård in 1907. Her daughter Hulda Carolina and her daughter seem to be the only ones remaining in Rosdala three years later in 1910. On February 13, 1924, Regina dies at the impressive age of 90.
