Charles Thibodeau is on the Wall of Names at the Acadian Memorial in St. Martinville, Louisiana Plaque 12 Left, La Ville D'Arcangel. Listed with him is his wife Magdelaine Henry and five children: Pierre Charles, Jeanne Tarsile, Marguerite, Helene and Marie Victoire.[1]
Madeleine Henry was born about 1726 in Cobequit, Acadia to Jean (dit Le Vieux) Henry and Marie Hebert. She was the 4th of 11 siblings.[citation needed]
In 1751, she married Charles Thibodeau in Port Lajoie, Isle St. Jean, , Acadia.[2][3]
By the time of the 1752 census they lived in Riviere du Ouest, Isle Saint-Jean, and their first child, Helene, was 7 months old.[4]

In 1758, they were exiled to France as part of the expulsion of the Acadians. Charles, Madeleine and their 2 young daughters, Helene and Anastasie were on one of the "five ships". The two daughters both died at sea during the voyage. On 23 jan 1759, Charles and Madeleine disembarked at St. Malo alone. [5]
They had 6 more children while in France
In 1785, they traveled aboard "La Ville d'Archangel" to New Orleans. On the Spanish debarkation list he is listed as Carlos TIBODEAU, and received 1 each of knife, large knife ; 2 of axe, hoe; 4 shovels.

Charles Thibodeau dit Charlie, ploughman, native of l'Acadie, aged 29 years, has been in the country two years. Married to Magdeliene Henry, native of l'Acadie, aged 26 years. They have one daughter: - Helene, aged 7 months. In livestock they have one cow, one calf, one horse, one ewe, one sow, and one pig.
The land upon which they are settled is situated on the north side of the Rivière du Ouest, and was given to them verbally by Monsieur de Bonnaventure. They have made a clearing for the sowing of about two bushels of wheat.
