Robert was born in 1772. According to his obituary, he was born in County Derry. [1]
He immigrated to Upper Canada with his wife Sarah Bingham and their children about 1824.[2] They settled in Mono Centre, Simcoe County, Upper Canada (now Mono, Dufferin County, Ontario). On 1825 they settled on their land. It was located in Lot 15, Concession 3. [3]
He passed away in 1861,[4] and is buried in Mono East Cemetery.[5]
This petition for crown land in Upper Canada for 200 acres (plus 100 acres in trust for 17 year old son Robert Jr) in 1824 was likely made by the subject of this profile: [1] (plus subsequent images in this film) Minister Richard Dill (then of "Ballykelly, Derry") wrote a recommendation, knowing him "as a regular member of the Presbyterian congregation of Drumachose, Co. Derry, Ireland".
According to Heber Homer Henry's published genealogy Genealogy of the Descendants of Bern Township, Athens County, Ohio (which had a chapter on the Henry Genealogy), Robert Henry was the third child of Robert and Mary Henry of Flower Hill, County Derry, Ireland. [6]
