Biography

Mary was born in 1834.

Daniel and Mary were at home with their family in Taylor Township, Greene County, Indiana in 1860.^[1] Daniel was farming, with real estate worth $1000 and personal effects worth $300. The household included Daniel and Mary, as well as their children Nancy and Mary.

The Cox family was living in Centre, Greene, Indiana in 1870.^[2] Daniel was farming, with property worth $2800 and personal belongings worth $236. The household included Daniel and Mary, and their children Nancy E, Mary L, Deemma, and William Sherman.

In 1880, Daniel and Polly's daughter, Ellen was widowed and living with her daughter, Ida, in their home. Daniel was farming, with Sherman helping. Polly, Ellen, and Ellen's sister, Deemma were all keeping house.^[3]
