Henry was born approximately 1727 In Ireland according to a military record located in Pennsylvania. Henry' parents are unknown. He came from Ireland to Pennsylvania as did the Crawfords and Currys and all settled in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania and about 1748-1750 members of all three families moved to Augusta County, Virginia. In 1746, Henry was a solider in Captain John Shannan's Company of foot and enlisted on June 20, 1846. Henry was listed as nineteen years old, born in Ireland and his occupation was a stated as a laborer. Companies commanded by Captains Trent, Shannon, Deimer and Perry, were reciting under authority of a proclamation issue by Governor George Thomas, dated June 9, 1746 reciting the King's orders of the ninth of April, to raise four hundred men within the Province Of Pennsylvania to be employed in concert with the regular forces in the immediate reduction of Canada. The instructions for recruiting, together with a copy of Captain Shannon's commission. [1] These companies went into winter quarters in Albany, New York 1746-1747 and were finally discharged October 31, 1747, the late intended expedition against Canada having been by his Majest laid aside for the present.

In 1781 and 1782, Henry was listed several times in the probate records doing jury duty. Although the Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution's records do not include those of a soldier, they do recognize Henry for his Civil Service as Ancestor #A001559. Application for membership in the Society have been made by the descendants of his daughter Sarah Henry, who married Samuel Pullin; and Margaret Henry, who married Benjamin Ralston. [2]

Henry and sons Hugh and John were recorded for the Tenth Legion Tithables No. 2 West District in Captain Thomas Shanklin's Company and listed as living at Mt. Clinton, Rockingham County, Virginia. He passed away in 1799 in Rockingham County, Virginia and most likely buried on the family farm. [3] Henry's original will was lost in a court fire, however, minute books having abstract of many of the county's probates were save.

When Henry C. Henry was born in 1727, in Ireland, his father, Henery Harry Mc Henery, was 28 and his mother, Mary Jane Mc Glenn, was 28. He married Mary Chestnuts on 29 July 1760, in Virginia, British Colonial America. They were the parents of at least 4 sons and 5 daughters. He died on 25 February 1799, in Rockingham, Virginia, United States, at the age of 72.

This is part of Henry's will: The last will and testament of Henry Henry, deceased, was presented in court by Mary Henry and John Henry. The executors therein named and proved by the oath of the witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded and on the motion of said executors, who with security, entered into the acknowledge bond, conditional as the law directs, a certificate is granted there of for obtaining probate thereof in due form, they having made oath thereto as the law directs and it is further ordered that Gad Gilmore, Joseph Henton, Thomas Gordon and Peter Bowman or any three of them, who being first sworn, be appointed to appraise the estate of the said deceased and make report there of to the court. --- MINUTE BOOK; 4, PART I, PAGES; 247-248, Rockingham County, Virginia (original will destroyed in a court house fire).
